What’s the difference between a Toronto roof repair and a roof restoration?
Generally when somebody’s asking for a roof repair trying to get a specific issue resolved. The roof is leaking or they’ve noticed a tile’s fallen off the Roof or there’s something specific they want addressed and they want that issue fixed or could be several issues.
When we’re talking about a roof restoration we’re talking about doing something to address the whole roof trying to improve either the roofs life or replacing the roof altogether. In the Toronto roofing industry when we are talking about roof restoration we are talking about basically cleaning it up giving it a rust treatment is needed fixing anything that needs fixing and a then coating it with some sort of high quality paint or hard already I all membrane the other thing that’s sometimes referred to as a roof restoration is when you actually need to replace your entire roof and then you’ve restored your roof to it’s former glory. If you’re like most people refer to that as a re-roof or a roof replacement.
So at what point would your Toronto roof need to be completely replaced ? How damaged would if need to be?
If you really don’t want any leaks at all the point at which you need to replace the roof can come little bit earlier then somebody is willing to. It has a few leaks and repair them as you go at a point where it becomes on inevitable to repair, keep repairing your roof and if you do too many repairs it’s going to cost you more then a roof replacement. That is really just left to you know your judgment and getting some good advice from a good toronto roofing contractor. Generally you know a well made roof should last fifteen sixteen years.
So as long as it was done correctly in the first place she should be getting fifty sixty years out of your Toronto roof and it may need the occasional repair in that time. It’ll certainty need some maintenance cleaning you know just getting your gutters cleaned replacing some screws and maybe the odd flashing but once you get to the point where it’s starting to need repairs sort of more than once a year you probably looking down the barrel of a roof replacement.
Are there any differences in contractors like Toronto compared to other cities? Toronto roofing contractors are obviously going to know Ontario standards better so from that view point yes there are differences for was you know you get contractors from other cities they are going to know there own building codes better than they know the Ontario building codes. Every province has their own way of doing things even Alberta although their roofing practices are very similar you’ll find they just a slightly different ways of doing things and it might be acceptable in Alberta but it might not be in Ontario. I would always recommend Ontario roofing contractors for that reason on because they are going to understand what is actually by the book here. Can roofing contractors form other provinces countries operate in Ontario? They can but the need to operate under somebody who’s got an Ontario license.
So they can’t be sort of advertising unless they have a license and they’ll have to get that license by doing one of several ways. You can actually get a license but other then that they will need to work under someone else’s license and be supervised by that person.
What kind of roofing materials or what practices should people do to safe guard their houses?
I don’t think it makes too much difference if you have a metal roof or a tile roof if the fire is hot enough it’s gonna burn whatever in it’s path it’ll melt metal burn the timber frame from right under the tiles. The tiles might not burn but they will certainly fall through the ceiling.
I don’t know that there’s too much you can do other then just keep the leaves out of the gutter, keep the roof clean keep dry debris away form the house in general and you might want to look at doing some sort of irrigation sprinkler system something to have has an emergency way of putting a lot of water around or on the house.
I don’t think it makes much difference what sorts roof you have and I think it has a lot to do with luck and which way the wind is blowing if you are going to be safe or not right OK so for metal roofing, I have heard about color bond.
Are there other types of metal roofing as well or is colorbond the best ?
Yes well colorbond is a very very good product and I would say and in terms of steel products it is the best steel roofing on the market.
There are other types of or imitation colorbond that’s coming in from China and they have a very similar process of coating the steal with zinc and aluminum and then putting the powder coating on top. If you’re next to coastal or a harsh industrial environments you need to look potentially at using copper or stainless steel some other sort of metal that’s a little bit more rust proof basically something that is going to stand up to the eliminates and but for the general home owner colorbond is as good as you can get.
