Technical Committee

The NWT Soccer Association has established a Technical Committee to help guide the Board when considering technical aspects of our programs and operations.  The following Terms of Reference outlines how the Committee will operate and provides a synopsis of the qualifications of its members.

Chair:

Director of High Performance or in the case of a vacancy, an individual appointed by the Board.

Members:

Two other members, ideally from different regions, selected by the Director of High performance  who are knowledgeable about the technical aspects of the game and have played or coached at a high calibre.  

Terms of Reference:

  1. Meet as requested by the Board of Directors to consider matters of a technical nature;
  2. To advise and make recommendations concerning same to the Board of Directors;
  3. May add additional members as appropriate to form working groups to deal with specific requests from the Board of Directors;
  4. Members of this committee may be removed by resolution of the Board of Directors for misconduct or good and sufficient cause.

Brian Wishart - Director of High Performance and Chair of Technical Committee

Brian  has played competitively for over 25 years. In the early 90’s Brian was a member of the National Team training centre.  He was a member of the 1997 Nova Scotia Canada Games team that placed fourth in Brandon Manitoba.  In 1995 he won his first of two National Championships with the Dalhousie Tigers in the CIAU finals.  In 2001 he won a bronze medal with Saint Mary’s University at the CIS National Championships. That same year he won his second National Title with Halifax King of Donair Senior Men’s at the National Championships in Toronto.  Brian has represented his province at Nationals 6 times throughout his career. Brian now focuses his attention to coaching and developing players in the Northwest Territories.

 

Brook Morrison

Brook Morrison has been a student of the game since the young age of 8 when she began her playing career in Aylmer, Quebec.  From that time until leaving to begin her collegiate playing career she continued to play at the highest competitive levels in her home province.  Once at the College Militaire Royale Brook excelled on the field contributing significantly to the team's success in the FQSE league. During this time Brook also played and trained under the guidance of Gaspar D'Alexis with playing with the Omega Club winning the Quebec Cup and going on to represent Quebec at Club Nationals in the summer of 1995 .  After 3 years at CMR, Brook moved on to finish her career at the Royal Military College of Canada earning a league MVP distinction in the OCAA two consecutive years.  Brook was also named the Pitt Porter Trophy recipient in 1995-1996  as the most valuable player at RMC.

After graduating from RMC in 1997, Brook relocated to Edmonton Alberta dedicating her talents to the St.Albert Flyers Club where she played until 2000.

In 2001 Brook was selected to represent Canada and the Canadian Forces on the Canadian Forces National Women's Soccer team.  Until retiring from competition in 2007, Brook represented her nation in countless World Championship and other international competitions also being named team captain in 2005 and 2006.

Although injury has forced Brook off of the playing field she continues to demonstrate her love of the game in many ways.  She has continued to contribute to the growth of the women's game in the Canadian Forces lending her energy and enthusiasm as the chairperson of the jury of appeal at the inaugural CF Women's Soccer Championship in 2008 and remains a resource for the CF Women's National side.

Now in Yellowknife, Brook is turning her focus to the next generation of young female players and is currently the assistant coach of the U-14 girls team.
