May 2nd – 7th, the Canadian Soccer Association held their Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Halifax, NS. It was with great pleasure that NWT Soccer attended with two representatives, showcasing the growth of soccer in the Northwest Territories and highlighting the progression NWT Soccer has made in high competition at Nationals.
Not only was this AGM an avenue to get all provincial/territorial soccer associations together, discuss practices and improve soccer across Canada, the membership was required to elect three representatives to their Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is composed of 14 Directors, led by President Victor Montagliani.
With a passion to serve the Canadian Soccer Association, NWT Soccer Association’s President, Ryan Fequet had put forth his name for election. It is with great pleasure that the NWT Soccer Association congratulates Ryan Fequet. Fequet joins the Canadian Soccer Association as a newly elected Board of Directors member from the NWT/Alberta Region.
World Champion Squash Coach Neil Harvey will be in Yellowknife next week. Neil was inducted into the UK Coaching Hall of Fame receiving the prestigious Mussabini Coaching Medal (you may recall Chariots of Fire movie. Professional coach Sam Mussabini coached Harald Abrahams to gold in the 1924 Olympics). For those squash followers, Neil was Jonathon Powers’ adversary Peter Nicol’s coach.
