Program Objectives
The Yellowknife Bay Soccer Club (nicknamed the "Sundogs") is a youth soccer club. Although not exclusive, the YBSC is focused on developing soccer and providing playing opportunities for kids in the Old Town and Niven Lake areas of Yellowknife. The YBSC currently has three groups: 6/7/8 year old girls (birth years 2002, 2003 and 2004), 4/5 year old girls (birth years 2005 and 2006) and 4/5 year old boys (birth years 2005 and 2006).
The YBSC supports the idea of Yellowknife having a multiple soccer club system instead of the current approach of having a single Yellowknife team in each age group and gender. The development of soccer in Yellowknife would be enhanced through the development of multiple clubs which can play against each other.
Over the long-term, the YBSC hopes to grow by adding higher age groups to eventually become a full youth club for all age categories.
Schedule for Practices
For the winter 2010/11 indoor season, practices will be held on Pitch #2 in the Fieldhouse from the beginning of November to the end of April.
The 4/5 girls and the 4/5 boys practice from 3:30 to 5:00 on most Mondays. Practices are scheduled for the following dates:
- Nov. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29
- Dec. 6 and 13
- Jan. 10, 17, 24 and 31
- Feb. 7, 14, 21 and 28
- Mar. 7 and 14
- Apr. 4, 11, 18 and 25
The 6/7/8 girls practice from 3:30 to 5:00 on most Wednesdays. Practices are scheduled for the following dates:
- Nov. 3, 10, 17 and 24
- Dec. 1, 8 and 15
- Jan. 12, 19 and 26
- Feb. 2, 9, 16 and 23
- Mar. 2, 9 and 16
- Apr. 6, 13, 20 and 27
