KidSport™ is designed to assist children of families facing financial obstacles to participate in community sport programs. The KidSport goal is to provide these children with the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of teamwork, dedication and responsibility through participation in sport.
All money raised in the NWT stays in the NWT. KidSport ensures that 100% of donations and fundraising proceeds are directed to children, unless specifically fundraised for operations. All applications are screened by the KidSport Committee to ensure the financial need and legitimacy of the applicant. KidSport policies require that at least one of the following individuals endorse the application: a school teacher or principal; a professional in social work or family services; law enforcement officer; clergy member; recreation administrator; community councilor or staff.
Funds raised are directed in the form of grants to individual children. Grants of up to $300 are available to children up to the age of eighteen. Funding can be used to assist with sport registration fees, equipment and travel.
If you know a child that requires financial assistance, contact KidSport NWT. KidSport application forms are available to download from their website at www.sportnorth.com/Content/Funding/KidSport.asp .
